Mount Saint Helens is an active volcano located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.  The Mount Saint Helens Visitor Center opened its doors after the monumental eruption as a gateway to the mountain, over 30 miles away.  The major eruption occurred on May 18, 1980 and is the deadliest and most economically destructive volcanic event in U.S. history.
