Erosional forces that formed this cave system shaped the entire region’s landscape. The Mammoth Cave National Park did not disappoint. There is no entrance fee, but you do have to pay for a tour, even if self-guided. We did the Discovery Self-Guided Tour. The tour is $8.00 per person. On the day of our visit, you could not register for this tour on line, you had to register on arrival. We arrived to the park at 8:00 a.m. and had to wait for the 9:15 a.m. tour. We stayed at the Hampton Inn, Cave City, KY the night before and highly recommend this hotel.
