An unplanned stop = a very pleasant surprise = Chena Lake Park. This park is located about 20 minutes from downtown Fairbanks. We visited in the morning and could not believe the natural beauty. We loved seeing the ice fishing, wooded areas and a few wild animals. We decided to go back in the evening to try and spot a moose and the northern lights and since you do not see a picture of either, you can probably guess if we had any luck. We enjoyed eating our cinnamon bun that we purchased at the Cookie Jar Restaurant. We highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast, lunch or brunch and of course the desserts. Our lunch bill was $40.47 and all the desserts we purchased were $11.00.
