The Appalachian Trail (AT) is 2,197.4 miles long and travels through 14 states. There are folks that set out to hike its entire length and others that just hike sections of the trail. Most start in the state of Georgia and travel north through the following states: North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. These folks are called NoBo’s. There are also folks that travel south and are called SoBo’s.
There are 51 Communities/Towns along the Appalachian Trail. These towns are a place for food, shelter, supplies, recreation and history. The folks love and support the hikers!
We are considered Section Hikers, both NoBo and SoBo, we park in a spot, go out and back. We hike the AT about once a month. We have a goal to section hike the entire Appalachian Trail, both North Bound (NoBo) and South Bound (SoBo), a total of 4,396.8 miles and finish by the time we are 75. As of May 2025, we have completed about 250 miles north and 250 miles south for a total of 500 miles.

In addition to hiking, we love to stay in shape by doing CrossFit. We also love to travel internationally and take a few trips each year.
